We have prepared 31 splendid and diverse programmes as well as comprehensive exhibitions and outreach programmes, totalling over 200 events, striving to vitalize the citizens’ cultural life and to broaden their artistic horizons. This year, the Festival is themed ‘Impulse’ - a metaphor for the surging power of the arts which not only nourishes sentiments but boosts creativity. In addition, it demonstrates the progressively strong vitality of the Macao Arts Festival. In recent years, there have been many cultural events produced in Macao and numerous talented artists emerged in various fields, earning a positive reputation. Locally produced shows comprise more than half of the Festival’s programme, as they did last year. We are looking forward to witnessing the opening and closing ceremonies, specially commissioned to local art groups. The Festival has specially invited local musical elites to gather in Tap Seac Square and present the magnificent Macao Arts Festival Silver Jubilee Opening Concert. The Festival closing ceremony, A Dream of Light, brings one more original audiovisual mapping show to the Ruins of St. Paul’s. Other local productions feature dance, theatre, music, multimedia and family entertainment, as well as items of Intangible Cultural Heritage such as Cantonese Opera, Macanese Theatre (Patua theatre), and Cantonese Naamyam. Naamyam will interweave with dance on stage for the first time, offering an innovative and surprising performance in a traditional Cantonese tea house.Programme : http://www.icm.gov.mo/fam/25/en/events/
